This two-day in-company course is designed to equip and develop attendees with the relevant information and skills to enhance vehicle inspection standards in GB, NI or RoI. Note: Fire Appliance courses cover GB or NI only.

For those wishing to attain the irtec Licence and practical assessment, it is recommended learners complete the three-day initial course.

Who Should Attend?

Vehicle inspection technicians, workshop supervisors and engineering managers.

This course is aimed at experienced vehicle maintenance staff, responsible for preventative maintenance safety inspections (PMI) or annual test preparation.

Course content

  • Assessment of learner’s base knowledge.
  • Operator licensing update.
  • Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and enforcement, an update on the enforcement prohibition system, Traffic Commissioners and the OCRS system.
  • A review of maintenance staff, drivers and operator responsibilities as per the DVSA Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness.
  • The DVSA Inspection Manual updates and a review of critical wear tolerances and standards.
  • Inspection procedure (theory).
